Stuck at a gate in the opening valley?
Use the Weeping Creek Valley walkthrough when the next bell or passage is unclear. The route separates the Outpost, the tower climb, the underground detour and the Great Waterfall. The base-camp gate is a later return trip: reaching its entrance does not mean you already have the tool and key needed to open it.
The useful distinction is the obstruction itself. Dread Axe breaks chained barricades; the base-camp gate requires its own key. The Phantom Blade Zero guide for this region puts those requirements beside the route, so you can stop searching the wrong courtyard and continue toward the tool you actually need.
Missing herbs or a wounded thief?
Open the Yu’er quest guide for the healer’s ingredient and rescue tasks. It separates accepting the request, finding the required item or person, and returning to complete the hand-in. Those are different steps. A boss kill or an item in your inventory is not the same as finishing the conversation that advances a quest.
Quest deadlines belong to individual requests, not to a blanket rule about leaving a region. Check the task you currently have before taking another major boss fight. The healer page keeps the locations and the cutoff conditions together instead of making you alternate between a general walkthrough and a separate missables list.
Trying to keep the true ending available?
Use the ending checklist to track the relevant purple quest chains and story warnings. It is the Phantom Blade Zero guide to open before crossing a late-game cutoff, rather than after the final encounter. Check completed objectives, not just quests you have accepted; an unfinished hand-in can leave a chain incomplete.
The checklist saves ticks in this browser without an account. It is a reminder, not a connection to your game save. Ticking a box here does not complete the corresponding task in the game, and a new browser or device will not inherit those ticks. Open the marked spoiler sections only when you want the later-story details.
Unsure whether to upgrade a new weapon?
Start with the equipment page when you need the material type, upgrade menu or refund condition. Ordinary weapon levels and Soul Temper are separate systems. Do not treat an explanation of material refunds as a promise that every equipment change can be reversed in the same way.
The weapon upgrades page compares the relevant materials and operations before the longer explanations. Use that table to identify what you are changing, then follow the corresponding steps. It is not a best-weapon ranking: choosing an upgrade operation and choosing a preferred moveset answer different questions.
COMBAT: WATCH SHA-CHI, NOT JUST HEALTH

Blocking and parrying do different jobs
Blocking spends your Sha-Chi. Empty that meter and you can be staggered, leaving you open to the next hit. A perfect parry, a dodge and successful attacks instead put pressure on the opponent’s Sha-Chi. Standing still behind a guard is therefore not equivalent to landing well-timed defensive actions.
On the default PlayStation controls, hold L1 to block and tap it to parry. The Phantom Blade Zero guide approach is to distinguish the action you are trying to perform before blaming the weapon: holding the button and timing a press are not the same input.
Keep the second weapon in the fight
You can equip two main weapons and switch between them during combat. Switching restores Sha-Chi, so the second weapon is part of your defensive rhythm as well as another moveset. A swap after a string of attacks prepares you for the next exchange without asking you to abandon pressure entirely.
Attacks also build Sha-Chi Essence. A full charge lets you use Power Surge with L2; it interrupts an opponent and deals heavy damage. That charged attack is separate from an ordinary weapon swing. Phantom Edges add another set of limited-use actions, rather than replacing the two main weapons.
Some new weapons also open routes
Phantom Edges are not only combat options. Some let you break barriers or reach distant grapple points, turning an earlier dead end into a return route. If a passage needs a traversal ability, a stronger ordinary sword will not solve the access problem. Check the obstruction and the tool, then return after the appropriate boss reward.
That is why this Phantom Blade Zero guide separates route requirements from equipment upgrades. One tells you where you can go; the other tells you what resources change your gear. Use the route page for a locked path and the equipment page for a material or menu question.
ABOUT THE GAME
What is Phantom Blade Zero?
Phantom Blade Zero is S-GAME’s action RPG for PC and PlayStation 5. You play Soul, a swordsman framed for his master’s murder and left with sixty-six days to live after a severe heart wound. His search through the Wulin follows the conspiracy behind that accusation.
The game mixes Chinese martial arts choreography with mechanical prosthetics, industrial ruins and supernatural threats. Its “kungfupunk” setting is not a conventional medieval fantasy world. Combat, exploration tools and side quests are intertwined: a new boss weapon can change both your next fight and the paths you can reach.
This independent Phantom Blade Zero guide focuses on playable routes, quest conditions and upgrade decisions. Choose the problem above to go straight to the relevant instructions.

BEFORE YOU START
What should I do when an enemy flashes blue or red?
Time a parry against a blue-flash Brutal Move. Dodge a red-flash Killer Move: it cannot be blocked or parried. On the default PlayStation layout, those inputs are L1 for the parry and R1 for the dodge.
Can I refill Sha-Chi by switching weapons repeatedly?
Switching main weapons restores Sha-Chi, but the swap has a cooldown. It is not an unlimited refill loop. Save the switch for an attack sequence or a dangerous exchange where the restored meter actually helps.
Are Blue Memory Flowers only story collectibles?
No. They reveal pieces of the past, and completing the flowers belonging to a story increases Soul’s health. A partial story and a completed set are different: the health increase comes from finishing the story’s flowers.
Which difficulty is intended for a story-focused playthrough?
S-GAME describes Wayfarer as the option for players who mainly want to enjoy the story. Hellwalker is aimed at players who want more advanced, adaptive enemy intelligence. Those are different difficulty choices, not separate story campaigns.
